🥩 For the Meat Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt & black pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned.
- Drain excess grease.
- Add diced onion and cook 3–4 minutes until soft.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer on low for 15–20 minutes.
🧀 For the Creamy Cheese Layer
Ingredients:
- 2 cups ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, cream cheese, sour cream, and egg until smooth.
- Stir in mozzarella, Parmesan, and parsley.
- Mix until well combined.
🍝 Additional Ingredients:
- 12 lasagna noodles
- Extra 1–2 cups shredded mozzarella (for topping)
🔥 Assembly:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9×13 baking dish.
- Layer in this order:
- Noodles
- Creamy cheese mixture
- Meat sauce
- Repeat layers (usually 3 layers total).
- Finish with meat sauce and top with extra mozzarella.
⏲ Bake:
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake another 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest 10–15 minutes before slicing.
