Ingredients

  • The Crunch: 1 bag (9.75 oz) Nacho Cheese Doritos, slightly crushed.
  • The Protein: 1.5 lbs lean ground beef.
  • The Filling:
    • 1 packet taco seasoning.
    • 1/2 cup water.
    • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken or nacho cheese soup.
  • The Cheese: 2 cups shredded Mexican blend or sharp cheddar cheese.
  • Fresh Toppings:
    • 1/2 cup sour cream.
    • 1 cup diced tomatoes (or pico de gallo).
    • Freshly chopped cilantro or parsley.

Instructions

  1. Brown the Meat: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Season: Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
  3. Make it Creamy: Stir the soup into the beef mixture until well combined and heated through.
  4. Layer: In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spread half of the crushed Doritos in an even layer. Top with the beef mixture, followed by the remaining crushed chips.
  5. Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the top of the chips.
  6. Bake: Bake at 350°F for 15–20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Finish: Remove from the oven and top with a long dollop of sour cream and fresh diced tomatoes.
