Ingredients
- The Crunch: 1 bag (9.75 oz) Nacho Cheese Doritos, slightly crushed.
- The Protein: 1.5 lbs lean ground beef.
- The Filling:
- 1 packet taco seasoning.
- 1/2 cup water.
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken or nacho cheese soup.
- The Cheese: 2 cups shredded Mexican blend or sharp cheddar cheese.
- Fresh Toppings:
- 1/2 cup sour cream.
- 1 cup diced tomatoes (or pico de gallo).
- Freshly chopped cilantro or parsley.
Instructions
- Brown the Meat: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Season: Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
- Make it Creamy: Stir the soup into the beef mixture until well combined and heated through.
- Layer: In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spread half of the crushed Doritos in an even layer. Top with the beef mixture, followed by the remaining crushed chips.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the top of the chips.
- Bake: Bake at 350°F for 15–20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Finish: Remove from the oven and top with a long dollop of sour cream and fresh diced tomatoes.
- Garnish: Sprinkle with fresh herbs before serving hot.
