Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 20–25 mins | Servings: 6
Ingredients
- The Pasta: 1 package (18–20 oz) refrigerated cheese tortellini.
- The Protein: 1 lb ground beef or mild Italian sausage.
- The Sauce: 1 jar (24 oz) of your favorite marinara or pasta sauce.
- The Cheese: 2 cups shredded mozzarella or a multi-cheese Italian blend.
- The Flavor Boosters:
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder.
- 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning.
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish.
Instructions
- Prep the Meat: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef or sausage until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
- Combine: Stir the marinara sauce, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning into the skillet with the meat. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- Mix in Pasta: In a large bowl or directly in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, toss the uncooked refrigerated tortellini with the meat sauce until every piece is well-coated.
- Top with Cheese: Spread the mixture evenly in the baking dish and cover generously with the shredded mozzarella.
- Bake: Place in a preheated oven at 350°F for 20–25 minutes. The casserole is ready when the cheese is melted, bubbly, and starting to turn golden brown around the edges.
- Serve: Let it stand for 5 minutes before serving, then garnish with fresh herbs.
